Warp and weft
The warp threads are attached to the front and back of the loom and are stretched vertically under a constant tension. The weft threads are passed horizontally by a shuttle or air jet, passing back and forth regularly between the warp threads. By changing the thickness and twist of the threads and the spacing between the threads (weave density), the characteristics of the fabric such as elasticity, drape, luster, and durability can be freely controlled. Also, by simply changing the colors and arrangement of the warp and weft threads, a wide variety of looks can be created, from solid colors to checks, stripes, and jacquard patterns.
