Spun Silk Thread

Spun silk thread (silk noil yarn) is made by collecting the short fibres — silk noil — that arise during the silk-spinning process and spinning them into yarn once more. By making use of fibres too short to become raw silk filament, it keeps silk’s natural moisture retention and absorption/release, while the knots and neps give the fabric a rich, three-dimensional texture. The fibres are usually under 5 cm long, so the lustre is restrained, but the yarn is soft to the touch and moderately breathable, growing softer the more it is worn.
