The Workshop Archive

The Workshop Archive, Sat 19 and Sun 20 September, 10:00–17:00, in Sakyo, Kyoto. We open our private workshop to the public.

Fabric remnants, recrafted garments, surplus materials and personal objects, caught partway through their circulation. There is also a corner for sorting offcuts.

ikken
Working in architecture and furniture upstairs, they designed our Kyoto and Tokyo shops, and for two days their studio becomes the venue for the talks and the food.

OUTBOUND
A shop in Kichijoji, Tokyo, where handwork sits side by side, tools and not-tools alike. They have carried MITTAN since our first season, SS2014, and for two days Kazuto Kobayashi keeps a space of his own here.

HARUHINA SPICE AND FOOD
South Indian cooking upstairs both days. Reserved seatings from 10:30, walk-ins from 11:00 until 13:30, closing at 14:30. Reserve a table through the form below.

Talks
16:00–17:30 both days, doors 15:30. On the 19th, the woodworker Yoshifumi Yamamoto, from Okayama, with Takato Yoshida of ikken; on the 20th, Kazuto Kobayashi with Mitani of MITTAN. Reservation required; a drink from HARUHINA SPICE AND FOOD is included. Please book through Peatix below.

We work to bring waste as close to zero as we can, and hope the two days give a sense of how materials and garments circulate, and how new value comes of it. We look forward to welcoming you.
