About our renewed hang tags

From the AW26 season, we have renewed the hang tags attached to our garments. The design is by Natsuko Yoneyama, who also worked on the renewal of our website, and every element of the tag — the paper, the string, the design and the typeface — has been reconsidered. This is one part of our effort to take responsibility not only for the clothes themselves but also for the materials that accompany them, following the procurement standards we have set for 2028, and the change is being introduced gradually, beginning with the AW26 collection. We have used the remaining stock of the previous tags to the last, and those already attached stay as they are — so for a while, the old and new tags will be found side by side.

The paper is U-Board SF, made entirely from recycled stock, including used beverage cartons and paper that is otherwise difficult to process. In order to preserve the colour and texture of the paper itself, nothing but the text is printed on it, leaving the particular quality of the recycled fibre as it is. The string is a blended yarn of linen and ramie — the same fibres used in our garments — chosen so that the tag sits naturally with the clothes.

The QR code printed on the tag continues, as before, to lead directly to the page for that garment, where, alongside the character of the fabric and the design, you can trace where the raw material was grown, and where it was spun, woven, dyed and sewn.

In addition, regarding this renewal, we have found that some of the QR codes on the new tags cannot be scanned. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. The printing method changed with the renewal, and the ink bleeds during printing; the recycled paper, which retains its raw texture, does not take ink evenly, and this is thought to be one of the causes. Within the same item number, tags printed cleanly scan without trouble, and the result also varies depending on the device. The tags affected are on part of the AW26 season’s garments — the number is small, but we have not been able to identify which garments they are in.
