Storing wool and animal hair products
Wool and animal hair products should be hung on hangers immediately after daily wear to release moisture and dried in the shade in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight.Afterwards, remove dust and sebum from the surface by using a special soft brush or lightly flicking to remove any dust or dirt from the fur, and then leave the fur to rest for 2-3 days to reduce pilling and loss of shape.
Wool and animal hair are made up mainly of the protein keratin, which is easily eaten by keratin-feeding clothing pests, which can cause small holes and surface damage. These pests tend to breed actively in hot, humid environments.
Before long-term storage, always remove dirt and sweat stains carefully by hand washing or cleaning and dry the garment completely. The garment should then be stored in a breathable non-woven bag or sealable container, and the storage area should be kept at a temperature of 20°C or less and a humidity of 65% or less. The fabric should be taken out to dry in the shade at the change of season and inspected for discolouration and insect damage to ensure that it retains its beautiful texture for a long time.
